Dear Partner in Ministry,
Greetings from TEAM!
As the newly appointed International Director, thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself and my family to you. The Burkholder Family – my wife Jenny and our three beautiful girls – has served with TEAM for the past 11 years in disciple-making and leadership development in Guatemala. Latin America has been home for most of my life as I was raised as a missionary kid in Mexico City. I am deeply committed to sharing the good news of Jesus and TEAM has been an excellent platform from which to do so. In July, the Lord opened the door for me to step into a new area of servant leadership as International Director. Serving in this role is both a privilege and great responsibility as I consider God’s work through TEAM over the past 134 years.
Often, organizations with a long history like TEAM can easily lose sight of their purposes. But this is not the case at TEAM: we remain enthusiastically committed to seeing Jesus Christ proclaimed among the nations. Today, 600 workers in more than 40 countries labor to make disciples and to strengthen God’s people so that the whole world has access to the good news of Jesus Christ.
This is the heart of TEAM.
However, disciple making is no simple task. In nations and people groups around the world, many are blinded by false gods and false kingdoms. God’s people, redeemed and sent out by Christ, have been commissioned to proclaim and demonstrate the greatness, goodness, and supremacy of the true God and His rule and reign in Christ Jesus.
This is the mission of TEAM.
Envision with me the places around the world where TEAM workers are fulfilling this mission:
- the remote, 2000-person village of Tchaguine, Africa, for instance, where workers have dedicated years to bible translation so that local believers are strengthened in their faith through the richness of God’s Word in their own language; or
- in Tokyo, where workers teach English to driven and high-achieving youth who, while learning, encounter a life-changing perspective – one that is not based on performance or achievement, but on grace.
This is the impact of TEAM.
The world must know that Jesus Christ is the one true Savior and King! Proclaiming this message is not just for a few “set-apart Christians” who go, it is also for those who give generously to support those called to serve among the nations.
Today, would you prayerfully consider a generous gift to TEAM?
